When there is a movie about an attack on NYC, and features main characters running for their lives and terrified because they have no idea what is happening, that is a movie about 9/11. This is not me reading too much into the story (wrong, Matt and
Nilda!), and is definitely not unintended by the film's creators. Bottom line,
Cloverfield is the first film to recount an attack on New York since 9/11 and there will be a lot of people in New York talking about 9/11 after the movie comes out.

I see your point, but there's a lack of commentary and a blatancy that makes me think there is no intended message about 9/11 in the film. There are definitely parallels, and if the director was smart he would pull elements from that day for realism. But I don't think this will be a huge topic.
Oh yeah, you suck balls.
Excellent job of talking about what elements are or are not in the movie, before you've even seen the movie. What else can your ass do, besides speak?
Girls, girls! You're both pretty!
Seriously, though, I thought there was a 911 component to this flick as soon as I saw the first non-cryptic commercial for it. But I think that only comes across 'cause this is the first what-would-people-really-do-if-there-were-a-monster movie. Rather than your traditional Independence Day type of "let's go beat them aliens" nonsense, that is.
So in that way, of course it's gonna remind us of an actual tragedy that we all lived through!
I have recently learned that Blogspot Magazine is doing a story on a set of gay twins that are competing for the most boring blog.
Dude, I'm so sick of entering Gay Twin competitions. We all know that I'm too butch to win.
Matt is SOOOO proud of himself! Let's all tell Matt that he did a "GOOD JOB!" He's been pretty down on himself recently since hsi boyfriend broke up with him.
I totally agree with you! This movie freaks the crap out of me! xoxo
Holy crap! Looks like someone's been reading your blog!
Oh, and warning re: link above. Spoiler alert! (But only if you actually read the article.)
